Product Development Engineer III (Mechanical Engineer)

Summary:

The Product Development Engineer III (ME) will develop new ultrasound medical devices to support current and future company products and will participate in the manufacturing, testing, servicing, and documentation of products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for developing, maintaining, managing and executing on project-specific items, such as specifications, drawings, bill-of-materials, assembly and test procedures, validation plans, schedules, budgets, etc.

Leads projects or sub-projects, and/or participates in a supporting role based on experience, background, and expertise.

Designs parts, assemblies and systems using SolidWorks.

Completes design documentation (BOM, engineering change requests, engineering file,schematics, layout, supplier info, user manuals, test specifications, etc).

Develops jigs, tools, equipment, etc., and accompanying instructions and documentation.s

Assists current and future company R&D efforts.

Responsible for collaborating with manufacturing and field service teams with technical problems and questions.

Responsible for support testing of product improvements and design changes.

Assist manufacturing with testing and troubleshooting during startup of manufacturing.

Provide limited field service support, as required.

All other duties, as assigned.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering, required.

7+ years of experience in the medical device industry developing imaging devices, product design, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, and/or ultrasound systems.

Solid track record in product development, from inception to final product.

Experience in hardware, software interfacing, electromechanical systems.

Experience with product development within an ISO/ Quality System framework, required.

Exceptional communication skills: written/ oral.

Experience successfully leading cross-functional teams to execute projects on time and under or at budget, required.

Knowledge in the operation and/or theory of ultrasound imaging and therapy devices, preferred.

Experience in a manufacturing or product development environment related to medical devices.

Familiarity with tool shop equipment (mill, lathe, drill-press, small tools, etc.), required.
