Field Service Engineer


Support patient treatment by installing, testing, calibrating, updating, upgrading and repairing diagnostic and therapy ultrasound equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate diagnostic and therapy ultrasound equipment by conducting tests, ensuring adherence to manufacturer standards, and making modifications and factory upgrades.
  • Uncrate, install and crate equipment and perform calibrations and manufacturer recommended tests.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules; conducting performance and calibration tests following manufacturer instructions; troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions; conducting field upgrades; calling manufacturer for special service and recommendations when out of his/her scope of knowledge.
  • Evaluate equipment performance by studying machine-patient interaction by conferring with equipment users and collaborating with equipment manufacturers.
  • Maintain equipment supplies and parts inventory.
  • Prepare biomedical reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment by conducting safety tests on equipment.
  • Travel to Domestic and International treatment locations and provide engineering services. Services may be provided on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) as well as weekdays (Monday – Friday) as required per schedule. Daily work hours during treatments may exceed 12 hours daily as required.
  • Able to read and understand procedures.
  • All other duties, as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering preferred or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 1 year of related experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Electro-mechanical analysis and troubleshooting experience and knowledge preferred.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Project Management, Technical Writing and QC/QA Systems experience a plus.
  • Exposure to Hazards: electro-mechanical equipment, heavy lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, with flexible work schedule to cover activities, as needed.
  • Required to be on site at treatment locations as scheduled on weekends.
  • Travel: this job involves extensive travel, averaging 50%-75% of the time.
